How the St. Catherine Laboure Church
Helps Pregnant Mothers
- Friendship and emotional support.
Every mother is assigned an Angel Friend, a woman who is responsible for contacting her once a week to see how she is doing, find out if she needs anything, and just chat.
- Spiritual support.
Over 120 project volunteers pray for the mothers and their families. (See the list of prayer intentions on this Website.) The parish clergy are available for counseling. Each mother and her family are invited to become part of the parish family and are welcome at Mass and other parish events.
- Material support.
Diapers, baby clothes, money for cribs, and money for groceries in emergencies are provided when needed.
- Transportation.
Limited transportation to doctor’s appointments, etc., is available.
- Prenatal care.
Prenatal and obstetrical care is provided by the Archdiocese of Washington’s Birthing and Care Program to those pregnant mothers who do not have health insurance.
- Referrals.
Through a network of other local agencies, referrals are made for services that the Gabriel Project cannot provide.
